South Kalimantan: Gedambaan Beach




A. Brief Information

Gedambaan Beach offers the beauty that fulfills spiritual satisfaction. In spite of its shiny white sand, its view also hypnotizes the visitors that they would spend hours and hours at the beach. People are able to enjoy the sunrise and sunset here decorated by the shiny light from the water of the sea. People long to come again to the beach for its wonderful beauty.

There are thousands of people come to the beach on Sundays and holidays. People from South Kalimantan as well as from outside of Kalimantan come to enjoy the view. There are thousands of people in crowd coming there using both public and private transportations on holidays.

The local government is mandated to clean the area weekly to keep its clean and beauty. Moreover, other supporting facilities such as the places for people to rest, giant aquarium, the garden full of fruits and flowers, a big mirror known as a mirror with thousands shadows, mini circuit, a room for studying physics, mini recording studio, and the camping ground are also available. Game stations for bowling and other sports are about to built to complete the facilities.


B. Distinctive Features

Gedambaan Beach is one of the few beaches in Indonesia which still have the mangrove. It is inhabited by several animals such as birds, fireflies, and bees.

The beach is also known for its strategic location which is on the slope of green Pulau Laut mountainous area. It is nearby other tourism objects such as pools and Sigam warm seaside resort. To put it in other words, people can also visit other tourism objects surround as they visit this site.


C. Location

Gedambaan Beach is located around 14 km from Kotabaru, or in Gedambaan, Pulau Laut Utara sub district, in the district of Kotabaru.


D. Access

People can use public transportations such as bus and minibus to reach the destination. Private cars are suggested for those who would like to visit other tourism destinations around.


E. Accommodations and other Facilities

There are many cottages (inns) around the beach in spite of the transportation available, as well as mushola, fishing pond, food stalls, and benches on the edges of the beach to sit on. Wide parking lots are also available to help the visitors to park their vehicles safely. The cottages are available for rent for those who intend to spend nights there which costs around Rp. 100.000-Rp. 125.000 per night/per cottage.
